Nicolas Heslop is the Leader of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council having succeeded Mark Worrall in 2012. Nicolas also holds the Economic Regeneration portfolio in his Cabinet.
A father-of-four, Nicolas has served on the council since 1998, representing Cage Green ward.
Before becoming Leader, Nicolas held the portfolios for housing, community development and planning and transportation.
"I have lived in Tonbridge with my wife, Maria, for 24 years, raising four children born and educated in West Kent. First elected to represent Cage Green in May 1998, I have always spoken up for local communities in the council chamber and supported local organisations like the Woodland Walk Residents’ Group. I have also held a number of senior positions, taking a particular interest in local housing and community engagement. In May 2012 it was my privilege to be elected the Borough Council leader. I work in London for a campaign championing apprenticeships and vocational education and, as a regular commuter, know all too well the challenges of train travel. I am a board member of the Bridge Trust and until recently chair of the West Kent Cruse bereavement service. I am regular at the Tonbridge parkrun and get along to watch Tonbridge Angels as much as possible."
