We are absolutely delighted that Baroness Trumpington has accepted an invitation to come to Kent and talk to us about her extraordinary life.
A life which includes working on Lloyd George’s family farm as a “Land Girl”, wartime service at Bletchley Park as a code breaker, part of the post-war ‘Cliveden Set’; including lunch with Christine Keeler, election to Cambridge City Council where she became Lord Mayor and her elevation as Baroness Trumpington, serving with distinction in government from 1980 to 1992
After a period of relative calm, Baroness Trumpington hit the headlines again in 2011 when she was caught live on the TV cameras giving Lord King a “two fingered salute” during a debate in the House of Lords, after he had referred to her age. This led to a renaissance, with appearances on Have I Got News For You and The Great British Menu. She has just published her delightful autobiography, Coming Up Trumps.
Baroness Trumpington, now into her 91st year and still going strong, is coming to Kent to help raise funds for the General Election, specifically to finance an important campaign to identify new helpers and activists.
An Evening With Baroness Trumpington will take place on Thursday 4 September at The Hazlitt Theatre, Earl Street, Maidstone. Doors open at 6pm and the show will commence at 7pm. She will be interviewed on stage by Tonbridge & Malling’s Parliamentary Candidate, Tom Tugendhat. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to meet her and she will be signing copies of her book.
Tickets for “An Evening with Baroness Trumpington” are just £10.00 per person. This is the only Conservative Party speaking event Baroness Trumpington has accepted this year; we really are most fortunate to welcome her to Kent. Please book early and bring your friends!
